Oh I really wanted to watch it, but it was at ten past 11 for crying out loud and I have to be in bed by then if I have any hope of getting up the next day for work. Who are these people who have time to watch cult American series on the TV at midnight?
Anyway whilst channel-surfing earlier in the evening I did happen upon the worst TV show ever (TM) - yes, even worse than Amercia's Next Top Model. It's called Meet My Folks and it's basically one of those dating gameshows where a bunch of over made-up women vie to date some buff guy, but the twist is that it's his parents who get to choose between them.
So of course it's one of those cheap as chips shows where only two things happen in the entire half hour and the rest is slow-mo shots of people crying while emotional music plays over the top, or people saying "oh my God I just want you all to know that I really love you guys, I really feel like we've made a connection, and this was like totally the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life" and they're talking about eliminating a contestant from a gameshow.
Top-class car-crash TV shite, and on Living TV of course, bless it. How I ever lived without cable I don't know.

Ha ha ha - yes, I share your enjoyment of "Meet My Folks" (and loved your acutely accurate description of its charms). When they drag out the ex-girlfriends of the possible suitors - the drama! When the father makes the prospective boyfriend undergo a lie detector test - the intrigue! When tears are shed - the false sentiment!

Don't expect to get off that lightly when it comes to my hero Larry, though. Second Chance Sunday! You have to endure a clash with Andy Richter on Paramount, but you can deal with that, right? Plus One on E4!

By the by, you are completely right about the idiot scheduling. So many channels seem intent on buying brilliant imports and then burying them in the middle of the night. Grrrr.

Remember, though, Curb is available on DVD! (And if you buy the Region 1 version via my beloved playusa.com, you'll pay considerably less than us beleagued Region 2ers are being asked to pay).

(Larry David should be giving me some of his considerable wealth for all this Curb-plugging).
