Help Us Cast The Lance Armstrong Movie

Here at Nuggets we are currently casting the Lance Armstrong movie, following a general dissatisfaction with the path the actual casting is apparently taking.

You'll be pleased to hear that excellent progress has been made on this important task. Currently, we have:

- Lance - George Eads
- Linda Armstrong Kely (why, that'd be Lance's mom) - Marg Helenberger (excellent suggestion, Barbara!)
- Sheryl Crow - Jorja Fox (go Fizzwhizz!)

Allow me to invite you to consider some other major parts, not yet cast:

- Jim Ochowicz, Lance's first pro coach: a man who Lance has called his surrogate father
- Chris Carmichael, Lance's coach
- George Hincapie, the only team-mate to accompany Lance during each of his seven Tour wins

Suggestions, if you please.

Well, I'm thinking Clint Eastwood for the coach/father-i-never-had role, but is he a bit too long in the tooth?

And for George Hincapie, we could rewrite the role as a comedy sidekick and cast Sam Rockwell, why the hell not. He's fit.

Sorry Barbara, I'm not sure about Helgenberger as the mom though - I mean, it says on IMDB that she's 46, which means she'd have to have had Lance when she was still at school. How about Meryl Streep or Sigourney Weaver (both 56, so still pushing it a bit, but they could pull it off with a bit of makeup)? Or Sally Field, who has made it her life's work to play mothers in films?

Well, I see your point--she would have been nine when she had him. But that's only eight years younger than when Lance's mom actually had him. I still say with the right makeup, they could pull it off. Besides, I am very partial to the idea of having a CSI-based cast for the movie:-)
